Your silly faces and giggles have gotten me through many, many a bad day.

Your favorite game of hide and go seek kept me laughing.

Those quiet little moments that we shared were always my favorite.

I will cherish every last moment that I have with you. I'm excited to see what your future holds. Today and every day for the rest of your life. Always know that your momma loves you. Through all of the good times and the bad. Through the days that you make me want to pull my hair out. Through your teenage years. Through your married years. Through the years that you have a wife and little ones of your own. I will be here for you. Always. You stole my heart the day that I found out that I was having you. You'll have it forever.

Happy third birthday baby boy.

Love,
Momma

Life Lessons

The one thing in motherhood that you do a lot is explain things. Kids always want to know about everything. They constantly have questions. Most of the time, silly questions. Brudder and I had a conversation that kind of hit my heart. Normally when I pick Brudder up from school, I get the normal stuff about his day. We did reading and math and p.e. He recently told me a different story.

Me: How was school today?

Brudder: Good.

Me: What did you do.

Brudder: We were at P.E. and this girl said she was thankful to be alive because she has a new heart.

Me: Oh really, that's really cool.

Brudder: What does she mean she has a new heart?

Me: Well sometimes people are born and their heart doesn't work right. Or sometime during their life something happens and their heart kind of breaks down and they need a new one.

Brudder: Well, where did she get it and how did they put it in her body?

Me: It's called a heart transplant. If your heart goes bad and you need a new one, you get put on a waiting list for a new one.

Brudder: Where do they get it.

Me: When people pass away they are sometimes organ donors. Once their body dies they take their parts that are still good and give them to people that need them.

Brudder: Did Papa II give his heart away?

Me: No. He wasn't an organ donor. Plus his heart was too sick to give to anyone.

Brudder: Well where are his parts.

Me: In his body still.

Brudder: How do they take the hearts from the ground after they are buried.

Me: They don't. When someone passes away and they are donors, they keep them on machines to keep their body full of oxygen so that they can take the parts they need.

Brudder: Oh.

And that was pretty much it. I always try to keep conversations true but kid friendly. It was really cool to me that he got to come in contact with a little girl that has experienced having a heart transplant. It gave me an opportunity as well to explain to him how he should be thankful for being healthy and being blessed with a body that works the way that it should. I strive to keep my kids from being selfish and overindulged. I want to keep them innocent but at the same time, I want them to know that we all have blessings in our life every single day.

It was announced today by Brudder that the government of Florida is Charlie Chris. He lives in Tallahassee.

The fact is that the governor of Florida is really Charlie Crist and he does reside in Tallahassee.

I love the working mind of a seven year old. He also cracks me up when he says that his brother showed his butt in Publix. For those that don't know, in the south Publix is a grocery store. He meant public.

What does it mean?

Boog has been talking so much lately. For the most part in plain English. Sometimes though, he throws me off. His latest vocabulary word is oofie. I don't know where he got it or how he even came up with it. Being the overanalyzer that I am, of course I looked it up. It really isn't a word. There is no clear definition for it so being the computer mom that I am, I did what any other normal person would do...I Googled it. The oddest googled version of the word I found was

There is 1 unique 'Oofie' first name in the United States.
Name Ranking
Oofie is the # 1,498,112 ranked first name in the United States

Really? Someone actually named their kid Oofie? I thought that naming your kid after a fruit was a little off but really? I want to meet Oofie. I want him or her to know that my kid talks about them ALL the time.

We are only six days in to the new year and I'm thinking Boog is going to need this shirt again...this Christmas.
